SILVERDALE; Is a 5 minute drive south west from Orewa Beach at the top of the Wade River. It's easy to access from the motorway and has plenty to offer visitors and residents. The town is well known by Aucklanders as the shopping centre where they can pick up a bargain on top brands, discontinued lines and seconds. Saturday morning provides visitors with the opportunity to pick up fresh produce at the farmers' market as well as arts and crafts.. this popular market is not to be missed!
DAIRY FLAT; Is a rural area about 8km south of Orewa the area lies around State Highway 1 and State Highway 17. The newly created subdivision of farms into smaller easier to manage blocks has encouraged those wishing to escape to the 'country-life'. A major facility in the area is the North Shore Aero Club which caters for training of private and commercial pilots, and scenic tours etc.
KAUKAPAKAPA; Is a rural area about 20km due west of Orewa..Kaukapakapa is Maori for 'to swim with much splashing', thought to refer to the sound of waterbirds landing and taking off! The first settlers, mostly English and Scottish, arrived in the area during the 1860's and 1870's, they took up land which the NZ Government had bought from Ngati Whatua. Kaukapakapa is now a green, prosperous district with many historic buildings. There is a village market and car boot fair every 3rd Sunday of the month.
HELENSVILLE; Sits beside the Kaipara River on the southern edge of the Kaipara Harbour. It's about a 40 minute drive off-peak from Auckland on State Highway 16. It offers plenty of recreational activities from harbour cruising to thermal pools, fishing, golf, horse riding and a wide range of shops.
